A price to pay

You probably thought it transpired all too innocently and you would be half right – my inquiries did not seek to find anything specific, but there was a twinkle in your eye I’m sure you were unaware your eyes divulged. I exchanged my own stories of my adventures, fiction and reality seamlessly mixing. You look at me with wide eyes in wonder. I never doubted the ploy would because that is how he ensnared you, isn’t it?

You look at me with wide eyes in wonder, your slender hands gripping the fabric of the sheets as you cry out shamelessly. It is not long until you are in blissful ecstasy, and you beg me not to stop, to never stop. I wonder if those lips poured from your lips when my little bird took you as well. My bird. Who do you think taught him how to sing, how to fly? But I made the mistake of opening the cage and expecting that bird to stay – or perhaps even more foolishly, to come back.

Look, but don’t touch. Didn’t you learn that? And there is a price to pay and there is only one I will accept. Just like the flimsy metal of the cage I expect cold steel to pierce your heart and you will know that neither of us wanted to cage you.
