Title: Smoke and Mirrors
Characters:
Pairing: Beckett/Norrington
Rating: PG-13
Prompt: RNotC + EITC, Mirrors
Word Count: 130

Clad in navy, clad in gold. Hollow green melting into sinister blue as the waves never cease to crash upon the finest wood money can buy. It can be rebuilt from the ground up just like a man, piece by piece, strand by strand, sewing in threads of destiny into the tangled skein. Each prides itself in its tools, its weapons, its remorseless pieces of metal. Cutlass and flesh, blood upon blood pouring onto brittle, broken, white. Smoke can shroud the mind and the senses, try to cover up the mirror - glass and truth, tears and lies.

But a mirror is all for naught when the only reflection you see is the thing you fear to become because the longer you look the more you transform into just that.
